Project Highlight: METAL Finishing Curriculum
A direct result of surveying industry workforce demands; the development of the METAL Curriculum, (Master Electroplating Through Applied Learning), is designed to provide standardized career training to prospective metal finishing employees, thereby equipping individuals with the necessary skills for long-term success in the industry. With input from local manufacturers, we’ve secured new funding for essential workforce training equipment, thanks to the support of Representatives Michael DiGiovancarlo and Ron Napoli. In addition, the Connecticut Bond Commission has allocated $300,000 for the construction and installation of a self-contained electroplating training facility, enabling us to offer immersive, hands-on training locally. The advanced training center, to be run by the Manufacturing Alliance Service Corporation (MASC), will soon offer the METAL programing alongside other expert-led training programs such as plastic injection molding and CNC machining.
This initiative, supported by the NorthwestCT Manufacturing RSP, the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, and MASC, reflects our commitment to addressing industry challenges and working with educators, training providers, and employers to develop and implement practical solutions.
