Waterbury Promise Job and Internship Fair

Come and gain exposure for your business, engage with inspiring Waterbury Promise Scholars
As you know, Waterbury Promise is working to build a generation of college graduates here in Waterbury and is already supporting more than 600 high-achieving scholars across 20 Connecticut colleges and universities. In addition to our college access and success programming, we are also focused on providing critical career exploration and readiness opportunities to ensure our scholars are well-positioned to compete for jobs post-graduation and fuel a diverse and robust talent pipeline to meet the needs of our local economy. This is particularly important for our scholars, as 68% are first generation college students! But we can’t do this work alone! Our scholars are planning for careers in business, accounting, healthcare, teaching, IT, engineering, marketing, communications, the arts and so much more, so we are looking to attract a WIDE range of organizations to join us for this fabulous networking and recruitment event!
Here are some details about what we are looking for from you, the event itself and next steps:
1. Internship Offerings: We understand that internships come in all shapes and sizes and are looking to offer our scholars (college freshmen, sophomores and juniors) a variety of options based on what works best for your organization. That includes opportunities that are part-time or full-time, paid or unpaid, summertime or during the school year. Have a special project that a smart college student could help you with? That works too. We are simply looking to provide meaningful experiences that will build skills, beef up resumes and expand networks for career success. Even if you have already filled your internship slots for this year, we encourage you to come and share more information about those opportunities so our scholars will be prepared to apply when the next round opens!
2. Paid Employment Needs: Many of our scholars need to work to support themselves and their families and are looking for traditional employment opportunities (full-time, part-time, summertime). Plus, we’ll have graduates from CT State – Naugatuck Valley this spring who will be looking to jumpstart their careers! Come and recruit your next rock star employee!
3. Register for FREE: There is no cost to participate in this year’s fair thanks to a generous grant from Webster Bank. Access our registration form HERE and reserve your spot today. Registration will run through March 13th.
4. Setup and Day of Details: Vendor setup will take place from 10:30-11:45 a.m. on the day of the fair. Each vendor will be provided with a 6-foot table and two chairs. Please bring your own display materials and be sure to come with a list of current internship and job opportunities. Light refreshments will be provided, and free parking will be available in the hotel’s garage.
